  1. i didn’t want Mythological / fictional places mix-gasm 2008 mix anyway!

  2. HAHA, in your face! Oh wait, I fixed it.

  3. Ok, so here’s my Fictional/Mythological Miggity Mix

    1. Welcome to the Terrordome – Public Enemy – ‘Nuff Said

    2. Your Only Friends Are Make Believe – Bloodhound Gang – Songs About Mr. Rogers Rule!

    3. Save Ginny Weasley – Harry and The Potters – The best Harry and The Potters song

    4. Professor Nutbutter’s House of Treats – Primus – I had a Prof. Nutbutter in College but his treats were of a different sort…

    5. Monkey Gone to Heaven – The Pixies – Heaven and Hell at 5 and 6.

    6. Lake Of Fire – Wesley Willis – “Wheaties, Breakfast of Champions”

    7. Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite! – The Beatles – what better way to follow up Wesley Willis than with the Beatles?

    8. Tale of Sir Robin – Monty Python – Why not take it one step further and sandwich the Beatles between WW and Monty Python?

    9. Frodo Don’t Wear The Ring – Flight Of The Conchords – “I don’t rap about bitches and hoes, I rap about witches and trolls”

    10. The Princess Turns The Key To The Cubist Castle – Olivia Tremor Control – WTF?

    11. Beaches Of Tomorrow – Low Flying Owls – in the future there are no life guards, probably cause there’s not any beaches either.

    12. Only In Dreams – Weezer – Dreams are fictional right?

    13. Fantastic Plastic World – Fantastic Plastic Machine – It’s in French so they could actually be talking about Kentucky and no one would ever know.

    14. sealab 2021 – Theme from Sealab 2021 – “Hesh Wants Sex!”

    15. Every Planet We Reach Is Dead – Gorillaz – I am sure some of the planets they went to weren’t real…

    16. The Secret Ocean – Elf Power – The secrets out and it’s on my mix!

    17. The Saga Begins – Weird Al – One of his only serious songs

    18. When I paint my masterpiece – Bob Dylan – References to Rome, which is full of mythos.

    19. The Never Ending Story – Kajagoogoo – Like the story, myths and places of fiction will never end, but unfortunately the mix will =(

  4. Haha! Adam has set a high bar…let’s see what the rest of y’all got! I’ll post mine last since I’m “the judge”.

  5. All right cunts, looks like there are only a few who will post there shit in time. HAHA!

    1. Stonehenge – Spinal Tap — Not ficitonal but clearly mythical. “At this point I raise a practical question: are we going to do Stonehenge tomorow night?”

    2. Fibber Island – They Might Be Giants — There’s all sorts of weird ass shit on this fuckin island.

    3. Buckingham Green – Ween — This one is a stretch, because I googled buckinham green and there is apparently a shopping center somewhere in the world with that name. My bad.

    4. Peter Piper – Run DMC — This song mentions numerous fairy tales, and includes this line about the Big Bad Wolf: “Not bad meaning bad but bad meaning good”

    5. Planet Claire – B-52s — As of yet, Planet Claire has yet to be discovered. Unfortunately, Fred Schneider’s porno collection has.

    6. Ghost Mountain – The Unicorns — This song is about a mythical place by a mythical group of creatures. That gets double points.

    7. Prussia – Je Suis France — Prussia doesn’t exist anymore, so BAM, fictional.

    8. Albright Monument Baghdad – Propaghandi — The plans to build this monument just keep falling through.

    9. Lullaby of Birdland – Tito Puente — I know what you’re thinking: “Hey birdland is a real place, I went there last night listening to Charlie Parker!!” Wrong, my friend, that was the heroin.

    10. Whiskey River – Comets on Fire — If whiskey river were a real place, I’d be bathing nude in it.

    11. Shahdaroba – Roy Orbison — Not only is this song about a fictional land, it is slightly offensive!

    12. Playboy After Dark – Imperial Teen — No one knows exactly what goes on at the playboy mansion when the sun goes down, this mediocre (at best) song is the only known record.

    13. Mutiny in Jonestown – Minutemen — Jonestown is now a popular amusement park, complete with Kool-Ade sponsorship.

    14. Mario 3 Underworld – The Advantage — Fuck yeah.

    15. Suffragette City – David Bowie — I tried to go to Suffragette City once, but there was too much leaning involved and I couldn’t afford the ticket.

    16. The Great Society – Elf Power — Demons, no disease, space eating off faces (that you don’t need anyway), birds — that’s a fucked up society.

    17. Babylon’s Burning – The Ruts — Since London’s burning was already taken, the ruts took a mythical place.

    18. Ballad of Bilbo Baggins – Leonard Nemoy — This is really the crutch of this entire mix.

    19. Frodo Lives! – James Kerley — I recorded this song for a college class called ‘modern mideval fantasy’. please do not judge my body of work by it.

I should win, give me back the crown!

  6. Two good mixes there, but mine should take the cake. James ripped off Suffragette City from me, he could have used the Seu Jorge cover instead.

    1. Lonesome Town – Ricky Nelson (Some may argue that Lonesome Town is an actual town just outside of Phoenix, Az)
    2. Suffragette City – David Bowie (David uses this fictional city as a metaphore in this classic song)
    3. The Lost City of Refuge – …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead
    4. Jet Song – Schlong (From ‘Punk Side Story’, a ‘West Side Story’ parody)
    5. Cyborg Control – Man Or Astroman? (Kripson, the cyborg, talks about how he doesn’t want humans on his planet)
    6. Candy – Morphine (He talks about ‘Candyland’ in this song.)
    7. Over The Hiccups – Negativland (aka somewhere over the rainbow…with a twist)
    8. Neverland – The Knife (sitting in a car heading neverland. Not grammatically correct, but a fictional city, nontheless.
    9. The Battle of Evermore – Led Zeppelin
    10. Bela Lugosi’s Dead – Bauhaus (Song about a vampire’s lair, with a vampire played by Bela himself)
    11. (I Want To Live On An) Abstract Plain – Frank Black (so fictional, it’s abstract)
    12. Kingdom of Doom – The Good, The Bad and the Queen
    13. Magic Mountain – Blonde Redhead
    14. Dracula Mountain – Lightning Bolt
    15. Deception Pass – Karl Blau

    17. Atlantis – Les Baxter (not the one in Georgia)
    18. Octopus’s Garden – The Beatles (These guys are always making shit up)
    19. Dulcinea – Isis (Dulcinea is in the fuctional Book ‘Don Quixote’)
    20. Killing an Arab – (About the fictional Book ‘The Stranger’ by Albert Camus)
    21. Leaving Jesusland – NOFX (Again, this is not in Texas)

  7. Ha-Ha, yeah, I just saw the “Ricky” comment. That fucking Silver Spoons guy has been a thorn in my side most my life, damn you. But I’m surprised no one has ever recognized the uncanny resemblance you have with Sloth from The Goonies….

  8. 1. STNNNG-Grand Island, Neb.
The lore. The legend. The insterstate exit. Grand Island.

    2. Thin Lizzy-Jailbreak
“Somewhere in the town…” Most jailbreaks take place at the jail specifically, so dude is clearly making shit up.

    3. Wilson Pickett-Land of a Thousand Dances
If it existed, I’d be living there and would not be sitting here at the computer, that much is real.

    4. Rocket from the Crypt-Suit City
Didn’t do my homework. Maybe it exists.

    5. Beulah-Ballad of the Lonely Argonaut
    “…and Eldorado waits…”

    6. Pavement-Kennel District
Again, I didn’t really do my homework.

    Pffft. Keep dreaming, Limey.

    8. Big Black-Kerosene
    “this town”

    9. Swell Maps-Secret Island
I don’t need to explain myself to you.

    10. Man or Astro-Man?-Evil Plans of Planet Spectra
    Gotta have some MOAM

    11. Bastro-Krakow, Illinois
Despite the Land of Lincoln’s sizable Polish polulation, there is no Krakow, IL.

    12. Black Sabbath-Wasp/ Behind the Wall of Sleep/ Bassically/ N.I.B.
    Yep.

    13. The Stooges-Fun House
“Callin’ you from the fun house…” I don’t know about you, but I’ve never seen a phone in a fun house. Total fabrication.

  12. You guys really like Suffragette City

  13. AAAAAAAAAAAAh Wham Bam Thank you Ma’am

  14. I was the FIRST one to use suffragette by the way. I posted it first therefore I am the most suffragetti

  15. So who’s the winner? This will be the true test of your judgment, proving whether your brain is truly in working order.

  16. OK folks at long last…a winner has been selected. But first, my selections for this month:

    1) Three Dog Night – Shambala
The only Three Dog Night song I like.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=de8h27wsxpY

    2) Donovan – Atlantis
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2Pvg3bZ6H0

    3) The Amboy Dukes – Journey to the Center of Your Mind
Featuring Ted Nugent (I can fudge on the “fictional” rules because I made them. Besides, everybody else did!)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UN2VNFpiGWo

    4) Le Cirque – Land of Oz
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atnR0u_Ojhs

    5) Olivia Newton-John and Electric Light Orchestra – Xanadu

    10) John Otway – Green Green Grass of Home

It’s pretty clear you guys are lucky I can’t pick myself because if I could I’d win in a walk. ;-) So the prize goes to the second best mix on this page: Victor! Doing almost all “city” songs was a neat way to go. So congratulations Vic, I owe you a beer and you pick the next mix theme.

  17. You only had ten songs and two were about atlantis? No way, dude (Brad baker), you never should have won. Vic deserves it hands down (or up, whichever he prefers since he’s the winner).

  18. Yay me! Seriously though, my mix looks better on paper than on in the ears….but Hanoi Rocks Rocks!
