After a brief month off in may, it’s time to get back to being the raddest fucking hipsters around. The theme for June was picked by April’s winner. None other than Victor! And the theme is….6 Degrees of Separation to Kevin Bacon’s Ass.
Well, it doesn’t have to directly reference Kevin Bacon’s ass, but it does have to be 6 degrees of seperation. For example, begin with a band, then such and such member used to be in the next band, the singer from that band had anal sex with the drummer from this band, that drummer used to work at the subway that so and so frequented…and so on and son forever and forever, or until you have a good mix. Whichever comes first. I will have a rotation up by next week. Let me know if you can’t do it this month for any reason, but I’m assuming the only good reason would be because your vag is bleeding.

[begins thinking July mix theme]
what’s the rotation like for this month?
I thought I was a slacker, but somehow I’ve gotten my cd listing up here before anyone else? Come on people, lets get a move on. Anyway, here is my mix. After doing this, I realized I should have started with Mutton, but o-well. It was long and grueling and so I’m not going back.

17. Wills Disolve, Isus – Aaron Turner played on the latest Lustmord album.
Where are the mixes? I guess I’ll post mine soon, if no one else does. I’d like to get a copy of your mix too, Trav.
Apparently this month was a fuckwash, as I like to say. Oh well
So I’m not the only slacker…
The Chauffeur–Duran Duran
Election Day–Arcadia
Get it on (Bang A Gong)–The Power Station
Simply Irresistible–Robert Palmer
Too Shy–Kajagoogoo
Walking In L.A.–Missing Persons
Invisible Sun–The Police
China Girl–David Bowie
Too Funky–George Michael
Harry’s Circumcision–Lou Reed
Rapture (K-klassic Mix)–Blondie
Now the game is to figure out how they’re all related (and they are!)…
Two months later, here’s my track list. Every band in this list is less than six degress seperated from yours truly:
1. James Kerley – Bitch Love Truck. I can’t remember how I know this guy, but I’m sure it fits the bill.
2. Triage – Lion Sized. I met these guys after a show they played at the hi-dive, and after their CD didn’t work and they had to give me a new one. Those bastards!
3. Iron Maiden Posters – The Love Letter Band. The guy in this band seems to know all my friends, snd he’s pretty cool too.
4. Sister Saviour – The Rapture. Trav’s ex-co-workers uncle’s kid plays bass for these dudes. Did I get that right, trav?
5. Night Eyes – Bright Channel. Farrel started hangin’ with these ultra-hipsters before he left for our nation’s capital. I met an extremely drunk Jeff one night, but not drunk enough to give us free cds. The wierd thing about this song is that if you combine the song title and the band name, you get — Bright Eyes. Whoa! there’s six degrees for your ass!
6. Coffee Cups – Epilogue. Epilogue is my brother’s old band from the early 90’s. This was the first time I ever heard the term “alternative” in relation to music.
7. Birth of Poopy Fart – Awesome Cool Dudes. These guys are from Junction and somehow they know someone, let’s say Johnny.
8. Me and the Devil Blues – Dead Meadow. Duh, farrel and ryan made pedals for them. but then when farrel saw them play they didn’t even use any of them!
9. Electrified – Dressy Bessy. The lead singer of dressy bessy hung out with me and brad after they had opened for The Apples. She totally wanted Brad because they both have glasses.
10. Boom Ska – Giant Steps. My Bro’s later 90s band, but this song was after he left the 505 for the whatever Kansas’ area code is.
11. Don’t Beat Me Up – The Huntingtons. Cliffy Huntington’s new band (the stivs) played a bar that I worked at in greeley, and I was the contact man. It was the lowest-fi show I’ve ever been at, with a $50 rented PA and a chair for speaker stands, but it was also one of the best shows I’ve ever been at.
12. White Teeth and War – Monofog. Lucas!
13. Mango – Mutton. I know this band somehow. I think I fucked the drummer or something.
14. Holy Fuck i Miss You – nervesngel. Johnny!
